The Zone Monitoring System
Before you use the zone system described here, we recommend that you review it thoroughly with your physician or other licensed healthcare professional. No matter what your peak flow readings are, if you have signs and symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing you should follow your healthcare professional’s advice for contacting him/her.
The use of a three zone monitoring system* set up like a traffic light uses colored zone markers (Green-Yellow-Red) and has proven very useful to patients watching their asthma with peak flow readings. Once your green, yellow and red zones have been determined, record their values in the spaces provided in the peak flow diary. Then set the zone markers on your Peak Flow meter to correspond with those values.
Do not attempt to remove the colored clips once they have been attached to the PeakAir. They are designed to stay in one position, and not move.
