Hoffman Estates October 8, 2024 – In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, OMRON Foundation, Inc. announced today that it is making a $25,000 contribution to three charities helping provide relief to those affected across the hurricane-affected region.
As of now, the storm has led to more than 230 deaths, and this number is unfortunately expected to rise. “Our hearts go out to those who have been impacted by this catastrophic storm,” said Nigel Blakeway, Omron Foundation President. “We are committed to supporting the communities in and around where we live and work, and we hope that our donation will help to provide some relief to those who have lost so much.”
The Foundation is contributing $5,000 to the Greer Soup Kitchen, a non-profit organization near the Omron Automation factory in Greer, South Carolina. The kitchen serves over 190 meals per day to people in need, including those in Greer, Greenville, and the Spartanburg area impacted by the storm. The Omron Foundation is also donating $5,000 to Food For the Poor (FFTP), which prioritizes aiding the most impoverished individuals affected in multiple areas in the hurricane-affected region.
In addition, Samaritan’s Purse, a non-profit organization that mobilizes staff, equipment, and volunteers to offer prompt aid to disaster victims in the US, will receive a $15,000 donation from Omron Foundation. Samaritan’s Purse is responding in five locations across four states and will also be helping with Hurricane Helene rebuilding efforts in the mountains of western North Carolina. Last, Omron Foundation will match employee monetary donations to aid organizations supporting those affected by the hurricane through Omron Foundation’s matching program.
